With the TWILIGHT saga booming, a FRIGHT NIGHT remake was inevitable

Fright Night is nothing like the gloosy, dark and gritty vampire movies we’ve come to expect these days, yet it remains a classic vampire film that found its way nto our hearts in 1985 via director Tom Holland.
With the Twilight Saga booming like it is, I guess we should have expected that a movie like Fright Night would get a working-over by Hollywood–especially as the original blended horror and comedy, vampires are hot right now and the horror-comedy genre continues to produce unexpected gems (see: Zombieland).
THR reports that Marti Noxon will be the scribe behind a Dreamworks remake, which is a very interesting choice. Seems Noxon was also part of the writing team for a few episodes of another popular vampire comedy that went by the name of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also writes for television shows Mad Men and Grey’s Anatomy.
That’s a little more comforting, at least. I don’t watch enough TV to accurately gauge if these credits are worth their salt, but– it’s television. Enough said, really.
Here’s the 1985 Fright Night trailer to take you back to those glory days:
