Alright, I’ll fess up and admit that I’m yet to be sold on Ryan Reynolds. I’m sure he’s a great guy, but I’m yet to see him in anything that remotely impressed me. Beyond his looks(?) I’m afraid I have yet to be blown away by any Ryan Reynolds performance.  That isn’t to say, of course, that I don’t think it will ever happen. I’d be more than happy to be convinced of his talent, given the chance.

And so comes along Buried. A feature film directed by Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Cortés and starring the man of the moment, Ryan Reynolds. 170,000 square miles of desert. 90 minutes of oxygen. A cell phone. Well, it raised my eyebrow, anyway. The film will screen at Sundance next year and will reach your local cinema later in 2010.

Paul is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.
