Well film is a lot older and a lot broader. There's no comic book equivalent of something like "Love Actually" or the films of Hitchcock and Kubrick, as far as I can tell. I don't know my history as well as you probably do, but I tried to keep it film-related, discussing how we got to be where we are in terms of the superhero film genre. Cheers for the interesting post!

When was the last time you read a comic book? Although seen as quite the "geek's genre", the themes and characterisation within these reads are pretty much what you look for within films (notably Daredevil, Batman, Punisher and Spider-man). From the well-known (eg. Superman) to the not-so(eg. Deadpool), the story-telling within this medium hasn't dropped the ball, but only increased the focus of the mirror in faces towards modern society. To say the industry has digrested from 1985 is not only hyperbole, but simply ill-informed. Before commenting on another medium of media other than film, i suggest you do your research!<br>ps. 1. X2 2. Batman Begins 3. Sin City 4. Watchmen 5. The Dark Knight 6. Iron Man 7. A History of Violence
