Reel Short: TREEVENGE

Reel Short: TREEVENGE

May 23

Treevenge is without-a-doubt the most fun I’ve ever had at a short film festival. Amongst the many ametur films that played at the 2009 Night of Horror Film Fest, Treevenge is the one that got the crowd rocking. It was gory, sylized, grindhouse brilliance and it was the one film most people were murmuring about in the lobby afterward. I’m so glad it’s online so I can watch it whenever I like.

Created by Jason Eisener and Rob Cotterill, Treevenge has collected and impressive amount of awards at short festivals over the years, I’ll paste the list below. Find a spare fifteen minutes and enjoy this short film classic.

REEL SHORT

Each Sunday Reel Thinker shares a short film we have discovered.

As independent filmmakers ourselves, we enjoy a good, wholesome, well-told short film. Not only do they provide something for us to aspire to, quality short films demonstrate that the format can achieve wonderful, memorable film experiences for the viewer. We look forward to sharing the short films we’ve discovered.

  5. LOL at the 'couldn't finish it' comments for this awesome short film. OK so it's not master work, but if you watch the whole thing, it's well worth it.

  6. Absolutely agree. It's especially satisfying for fans of the genre. You won't find too many shorts much better than this.

  7. There's a world of difference between a Pixar short and an independent short.

  8. What were you waiting for, exactly?

  9. This film did big business in festivals and landed the director a feature deal. It's primary audience was never meant to be online. In a crowd full of horror fans it absolutely kills (pun intended).

Maybe they should take a que from them…also i think “short films” need to broken down into categories depending on their length. 15min is nearing the length of a tv episode
