Getting to old for this: THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER trailer

I think it’s around about here, at the third book, that CS Lewis’ Narnia books became properly batshit insane, and the hokey Christian allegory took on some mind-bendingly LSD-like qualities. Kids turning into dragons, kings turning into gold, lambs turning into lions; it’s all here, and then some.

One of the reasons the Lord Of The Rings movies worked was because they hewed as closely as possible to their source material. Disney obviously didn’t get that memo, as they’re busy hyping up the novel’s non-existent battle-scenes and playing down the book’s heavy-handed Christian symbolism. Plus they’ve totally revised the plot to include more Aslan, and they’ve cheated by bringing all five kids to Narnia, when in the book it was just the three. And three movies in, they still haven’t found a way to convincingly animate a talking lion.

I stopped caring about the Narnia franchise about halfway through The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe. That apathy just reached a new low.

I like how they were transported to Narnia, not always through the wardrobem hoping that opening sequence of them in the real world gets played on a bit and how they have no power outside of the closet.

That trailer had next to no conflict and without the Narnia name sitting on it i honestly couldnt find any reason to go see it. And the mention of the director? Was that meant to get me excited, ive never heard of him before, and also in a Disney film? Your audience are kids and unless the actors are up for an MTV movie award thats all who they care about.
