David Fincher’s Facebook movie THE SOCIAL NETWORK poster is plain clever

I remember hearing that David Fincher was attached to a movie about Facebook a while back and scoffed at what was surely just a silly joke. Turns out that joke has now finished production, has a poster and website, will soon reveal a highly-anticipated trailer and be released to audiences (in the US) on 1 October 2010. Way to go.
Thankfully, The Social Network is not just about people using Facebook. Nor is it a sci-fi tale of a mostly-blue website coming to life and killing people using Farmville and/or Mafia Wars tactics. No, David Fincher is much better than that. The film is adapted from the novel The Accidental Billionaires which is about the dude who invented Facebook from his Harvard dorm, Mark Zuckerberg. Don’t worry, it’s full of drama and problems for the protagonist beyond programming hiccups– as the poster suggests, you don’t make 500 million friends without making a few enemies.
Fincher’s been a bit hit-and-miss lately. Hopefully The Social Network is tightly cut and doesn’t run over 120 minutes for no apparent reason.
The Social Network stars Jesse Eisenberg (aka that kid from Zombieland), Justin Timberlake, and Andrew Garfield.
There’s no Australian release date announced as yet.

Awesome poster!! This film became interesting when it was revealed it was to be based off a book. Jesse Eisenberg looks like a nerd and seems to fit the part.
I have absolute faith this movie will be awesome. I think the only time Fincher has really slipped up was Aliens 3, and he blamed that on the studio telling him what to do. Not on to focus on cheap thrills and fancy set pieces, this should be an impressive, very human drama, much like Benjimen Button and Zodiac. Can't wait!
