The theatrical MACHETE trailer and Lindsay Lohan licking a pistol while dressed as a nun

After whipping up a quick frenzy online last week with a rash of kickass grindhouse images for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, Fox have followed up with their awesome new theatrical trailer. It’s action packed, it’s loaded with famous names and it certainly sets an exciting tone for the film… but it’s a lot cleaner and a lot less ‘grindhouse’ than I was expecting, especially when you consider the original faux trailer this entire feature film is based on.

If you’ve ever seen Rodriguez’s Mariachi trilogy (El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon A Time In Mexico) then some of the key elements in this trailer are going to feel very familiar.

Also timely is the release of the character sheet for Lindsay Lohan’s character The Sister (who is not present in the trailer, unfortunately) licking a pistol and looking all, you know… illegal.

Machete is released 3 September in the States.
There’s still no word on an Australian release date.
