DEVIL trailer is just another horror outing

After the absolute hiding M. Night Shyamalan has been getting for The Last Airbender, some fans (if he has any left?) are approaching a project he’s merely attached to with caution.
Shyamalan came up with the story for Devil as part of a planned film series for Universal, but he did not write or direct the final product we are going to see. Writing was left to Brian Nelson while Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle took on the direction. Still, seeing the title card ‘From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan‘ makes one hesitate more than ever lately.
Unfortunately, the trailer that unfolds isn’t much of a revelation, mixing obvious CGI elevators with cheesy, contextual one-liners for a standard B-horror that’ll work on Halloween for 16 year olds. Which is too bad, because the concept seemed kinda neat.
Devil is released in the States and Canada on 17 September 2010.
