LET ME IN poster is ironically uninviting

Many words have already been spilled over the perceived superfluity of the Let The Right One In remake Let Me In. What turns me off, though, is the people involved. Sure, Cloverfield was fine, but Matt Reeves isn’t exactly a big-ticket name, so why are they advertising it as such?

Then there’s the casting of Kodi Smit-Mcphee and Chloe Moretz in the lead roles: I think they should have cast complete unknowns to replicate the sense of mystery and surprise cultivated by the original, rather than throwing two of the hottest it-kids in Hollywood into the mix. Hopefully future trailers will help sell it for me, because for now, this movie still seems completely unnecessary.

Let Me In is due here 14 October 2010; America gets it earlier on the 1st, and the UK has to wait till the 29th.

  1. Looks more like a cover to a novel. Ordinarily that wouldn't be a bad thing.
