SKYLINE teaser trailer: the alien invasion Stephen Hawking warned us about

After screening footage that created murmurs at Comic-Con 2010 last month, Universal have released the first teaser trailer for Skyline, a film about the alien invasion Stephen Hawking warned us about, damnit!
I have to admit, for the majority of this trailer I failed to see what the fuss is about. The newsreaders are some of the most unbelievable you’ll ever see and the CGI effects of blue-coloured space beams hitting Earth somehow looked stock (which should be impossible, right?). Then I saw the final shot… and now I’m interested to see more.
Skyline opens 12 November, 2010 in the States and was directed by The Brothers Strouse, who were responsible for Aliens Vs Predator – Requiem. Do with that information what you will.

I almost clicked away before that final shot — who puts important stuff after the credits, anyway? The blue lens-flares stolen from Mass Effect via Star Trek also put me off. And so did the Strouse family name. And yeah, what was up with those newsreaders? Awful.
I keep flinching with annoyance at the constant mention of Stephen Hawkings, first time was bad enough but multiple mentions? Not needed.
Yes must agree with you guys that end shot was very intriguing
Stephen Hawking has said the universe wasn't created by God. Soooooomebody's bitter.
The final shot changed my interest levels for the better too. Harvesting was a word that sprang to mind…
Robin – I always watch through credits for cool stuff added to twist a story or bloopers! Think Iron Man… how many people would’ve missed that when they walked out as soon as credits rolled?
As much as I absolutely love stories of extra terrestrial intelligence making contact with us, they usually disappoint (Contact, Battlefield Earth, etc). I will continue to hold out hope for this one too… Actually, District 9 wasn’t too bad.
