Turns out I’m a fan of Blue-Tongue Films without even realising it. Following their superb short film I Love Sarah Jane (which I already featured on Reel Short) I saw the short film Spider during the week and knew right away I’d be featuring it here… not realising the same team was behind it. Blue-Tongue Films are also behind Australian feature films The Square and Animal Kingdom, both of...

A haunting rendition of Radiohead’s classic song Creep sets the tone for the first theatrical trailer for ‘that Facebook movie’ The Social Network, directed by David Fincher and released by Yahoo! today.
The second half of this trailer pretty much takes the audio we’ve been hearing in the teaser trailers and finally matches it with some great looking footage from the highly anticipated...

The digital team behind the upcoming blockbuster Green Lantern have finally released a rendered image of star Ryan Reynolds wearing the groovy new suit, complete with green mask and glowing ring (on his finger…). There have been no leaked images of the suit before this because the suit never existed — it’s completely being rendered digitally in post production.
I never grew up with comic...

After the absolute hiding M. Night Shyamalan has been getting for The Last Airbender, some fans (if he has any left?) are approaching a project he’s merely attached to with caution.
Shyamalan came up with the story for Devil as part of a planned film series for Universal, but he did not write or direct the final product we are going to see. Writing was left to Brian Nelson while Drew Dowdle and John...

After whipping up a quick frenzy online last week with a rash of kickass grindhouse images for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, Fox have followed up with their awesome new theatrical trailer. It’s action packed, it’s loaded with famous names and it certainly sets an exciting tone for the film… but it’s a lot cleaner and a lot less ‘grindhouse’ than I was expecting,...

SPOILER WARNING for those who haven’t seen the original Karate Kid
(and shame on you…)
Like many who cherish their childhood films from the 80s, I was bemused to hear there would be a remake of the 1984 classic The Karate Kid, starring Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith in the lead role, and Jackie Chan playing the Mr. Miyagi character.
Arriving at the cinema I was quickly reminded of it being school break...

There ain’t too much I can say about this trailer it doesn’t already say for itself.
Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables opens 13 August 2010 and is going head-to-head at the box office with the Julie Roberts feel-good, soul-searching drama Eat Pray Love. This trailer, aptly titled ‘Call to Arms’, calls for all men worth their salt to get back in the fucking cinema and see some...

First, let me state that I’m not making this up– this here is real. I had to double-check and make sure it wasn’t some lame attempt at a bad joke, but it’s fair-dinkum. I’ll start with the title: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. If you’re in a public place, read that out loud and count how many people point and laugh at you. I’d be interested to...

Michael Bay has been busy shooting Transformers 3 on the streets of Chicago and the internet has become riddled with images and videos from among the public crowds gathering to watch the action take place. Optimus Prime has been seen rolling down the road and Megan Fox love interest replacement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been spotted strutting her stuff.
Slashfilm have put together a very impressive...

Call Sheet: A weekly run-down of movie casting news and rumours from around the web.
A pile of X-Men: First Class casting filtered down from above this week, it’s been hard to keep track of. Aaron Johnson (star of Kick-Ass and Nowhere Boy) was rumoured to have been cast as Cyclops, but his people were quick to put that rumour to rest. That is where my interest in this film ends. For your benefit, here...
