Disney have released the first poster for their upcoming animated film Tangled. Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy provide voices for Tangled, which takes a new spin on the Rapunzel character after the kingdom’s most wanted bandit tries to hide in her tower. Naturally, she’s filled with modern-day-woman empowerment and is not effected by his charm.
Animation fans are already raving...

Call Sheet: A weekly run-down of movie casting news and rumours from around the web.
Comic-Con 2010 is underway in San Diego leading the way with most headlines across the web this week. Amongst all the preview footage, panels, exhibitions and guest appearances, only a handful of casting news has trickled out of the convention.
Without a doubt the biggest casting news out of Comic-Con came when the cast of The...

Call Sheet: A weekly run-down of movie casting news and rumours from around the web.
X-Men: First Class continues to throw names all over the place with regards to casting, but only now do I recognize one of the stars: Kevin Bacon. Variety reports Bacon will play a lead villain while 20th Century Fox have also signed Jennifer Lawrence to play Mystique. The director of Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn, is behind this...

I’ve been looking forward to Tron: Legacy ever since I saw the first trailer in March. It’s not the story or the characters that grab me, but rather the pretty visuals and synthetic soundtrack. Something tells me, though, especially looking at the bike-race-crash stuff, that the movie will be more than a little bit silly when it comes out in December. Nevertheless, it continues to look gorgeous in...

Call Sheet: A weekly run-down of movie casting news and rumours from around the web.
Undoubtedly the biggest casting news of the week was the appointment of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in the all-new upcoming Spider-Man franchise reboot, being directed by Marc Webb.
THR revealed the second biggest (potential) casting news of the week: Meryl Streep may be signing on to star in the biopic...

So, the FIFA World Cup 2010 is on, and while Australia’s Socceroos crumbled to yet another dismal early-exit from the tournament, I’ve decided to re-watch some of my favourite sporting movies instead of enduring what remains of the event. After all, the running time for a lot of films is pretty close to a single game of soccer. I might just tune in to the final.
Note: I’m not saying these...

That’s right, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is filming right now. Well maybe not right now; today’s a Saturday. Depends on their schedule — do they do 6-day weeks at Disney or do they shoot Monday – Friday? Who knows.
Anyway, check out these photos of Johnny Depp chillin’ with some dudes on a log, and asking whether he’s allowed to go pee in the ocean,...

Toy Story 3 is simply another Pixar movie. Which means it’s so undeniably enjoyable that, regardless of flaws, attempting to be critical of it for the pure sake of going against the grain would be nothing more than posturing. Toy Story 3 is one of the best releases of the year– and that’s without delving into technical stuff like the quality of the animation (brilliant) or the seamlessness of...

Johnny Depp + 3D = $500 million dollars. That’s the only thing on Disney’s mind right now. Johnny Depp + 3D + interesting storyline = $500 million dollars + loyal fans doesn’t seem to have crossed their mind.
Via Slashfilm:
In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if...

I haven’t watched The Lion King since I was a wee grasshopper, sometime in the early-mid 1990s. I don’t really want to watch it again any time soon, either — perhaps I’ll give it a spin when / if I have kids, or when I feel a particularly strong urge to indulge in some hard-hitting nostalgia.
Being that I watched The Lion King when I was a kid, I don’t even know if it’s a...
