Paul W S Anderson just can’t resist shiny things that go boom, protracted fight sequences, or slow motion shots of Milla Jovovich sliding under things.  Alexandre Dumas is spinning in his grave, probably in ramping slow-mo.

Antonio Banderas, William Fichtner, Sam Elliot, Snoop Dogg… the cast list is almost as discombobulated as the trailer, which admirably refuses to make a lick of sense. Expect a limited release of psychedelic craziness in May.

To this, I can only ask: what is the world coming to? It’s like Happy Feet crossed with Alvin And The Chipmunks. Remember when Jim Carrey used to make funny movies? Yeah, me neither.

The set-up for this movie is almost unbearably convenient, but if you like to watch attractive people trying not to be attracted to other attractive people, maybe Last Night is the movie for you.

I like that there’s a funny animated Easter movie on the way. It’s usually Christmas that gets all the attention and corners the family movie market. Now, a challenger arrives! Universal’s Hop blends live action with ‘state of the art animation’ (like we’d expect anything less, Universal) and lands on cinema screens April 1st.
