Who’s laughing now? HANGOVER 2 facing release delays thanks to THAT tattoo
May 01When Mr. Whitmill created the Original Tattoo, Mr Tyson agreed that Mr. Whitmill would own the artwork and thus, the copyright in the Original Tattoo ... Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. — without attempting to contact Mr. Whitmill, obtain his permission, or credit his creation — has copied Mr. Whitmill's Original Tattoo and placed it on the face of another actor ... This unauthorized exploitation of the Original Tattoo constitutes copyright infringement.”
Someone at Warner Bros. is going to get a smack on the fingers. A lead in The Hangover Part 2 (played by Ed Helms) winds up with a tattoo on his face for the majority of the film. Problem? Yes, actually. The same tattoo design can be found on Tyson’s face (a clever throwback to the first film, I suppose), and the dude who inked it, one Mr. Whitmall, owns the copyright.
Yup– he owns that shit. You can’t put that design anywhere without his all-clear, especially on the face of an actor in a major comedy release. So, in a major fuck-you to the big-wig studio, he has filed a lawsuit asking for the film’s release to be halted. Shit just got real. The Hollywood Reporter has the intricate details (with less swearing) if you’re keen.
New character posters for HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS get seriously dark and ominous
Oct 09
Oh my, how these characters (actors) have grown. Check it out: Harry Potter has facial stubble!
Warner Brothers have released a series of dark and ominous character posters ahead of their epic part 1-of-2 Harry Potter conclusion, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1. You can’t make these titles up, people. (I guess J.K. Rowling can, though).
Must give credit to this series, though, for (seemingly) maturing with its audience. They seem to get darker with each new instalment, something obviously derived from the books (although I’ll never know). An 11-year-old who saw the first Harry Potter would be seeing this latest film as a 22-year-old. Interesting thought, no?
Take a preview look at the posters now, before they stare you down in the cinema isles any day from now. You’ll see Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Rupert Grint as Ron, Emma Watson as Hermione, Dave Legeno as Fenrir Grayback, Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, Helena Bonhan Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange and Alan Rickman as Snape.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 hits cinemas worldwide from 18 November.
New character posters and hilarious second trailer for DUE DATE
Sep 20
Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers have released some typically strange character banners and a hilarious second trailer for Due Date, starring Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr.
I’m looking forward to seeing how well these seemingly perfect ingredients blend together when the film is released later this year. Zach is the go-to comedian of the moment, Downey Jr. finally got real famous after those Iron Man movies and Todd Phillips is coming off one of the most critically acclaimed comedies in a long time (The Hangover). What could possibly go wrong?
Not much, it seems. This trailer had me laughing out loud and I definitely anticipate a good time at the cinema when I buy my opening-night ticket.
Due Date opens 5 November for lucky-ducks in the States. Aussies will likely need to wait until the Christmas holidays start in December.

New images of Ben Affleck’s thriller THE TOWN
Sep 09
Warner Brothers have released a bucket load of new images to promote their upcoming thriller The Town, the latest directorial effort from Ben Affleck.
Affleck also stars alongside Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Blake Lively (Gossip Girl).
The trailer for The Town did look very interesting, despite the fact it felt like it gave too much away. Early buzz around the film has been great and, from what I have skimmed, it would seem the trailer is a safe watch. But I’m still cautious.
Images swiped from Collider, go there to see the rest.
The Town releases in the U.S. 14 September, 2010. Fellow Aussies can see it 1 month later on 14 October, 2010.
Call Sheet: Reese Witherspoon as Peggy Lee, Sam Worthington in COMMANDO, John Belushi biopic, Bugs Bunny returns, plus Anne Hathaway, Gerard Butler, Ben Affleck and ENTOURAGE
Aug 16
A tidy and brief Call Sheet this week:
Variety revealed Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon will play late American jazz singer and actress Peggy Lee (whose career spans nearly seven decades) in a new biopic. She’s also producing the film while Nora Ephron (Jule & Julia, Sleepless in Seattle) will write and direct. Sounds like a possible award-winning combo to me.
Newsinfilm reports Australia’s own Sam Worthington is attached to star in the 20th Century Fox remake of Commando which has been re-written by David Ayer (Training Day). I don’t see it. I’d much rather see someone like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson take the reins in this kind of film.
The Wrap reports Ben Affleck and Rachel Weisz have joined the still-untitled project for director Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line). The film already stars Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko.
Deadline revealed Warner Brothers have hired David Berenbaum (Elf) to write a new live action Bugs Bunny movie. Don’t get too excited… it’ll be another ‘hybrid’ kids film, in the same style as Alvin And The Chipmunks, Garfield and the upcoming Smurfs and Yogi Bear. Space Jam, anyone?

Hollywood Reporter announced Todd Phillips (The Hangover) is developing a biopic about legendary funnyman John Belushi after Warner Brothers purchased the rights to do so. Steven Conrad (The Pursuit Of Happiness) is writing the screenplay and will produce with Phillips. A director hasn’t been announced. Let’s hope they don’t fuck up by casting Seth Rogen as Belushi. You just know that card has been on the table.
According to Variety, Adrien Brody is going to star as a high school teacher in Detachment, co-starring Marcia Gay Harden, Christina Hendricks, Blythe Danner and James Caan.
24 Frames reported Gerard Butler has attached himself to star in a soccer movie titled Slide (as in slide tackle? I dunno…) Butler will play a troubled father trying to make up for lost time by coaching his son’s soccer team, but then finds himself in hot water after some of the local mothers take a little too much of a shine to him (and he to them). Sounds like he’ll be getting buff again, like in 300. OK maybe not that buff.
According to Heat Vision, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, Riley Keough (The Runaways), has joined the cast of George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy (as the new Max), Nicholas Hoult and Charlize Theron. Fury Road films Down Under next year, in 3D.

HBO has announced (via Deadline) that TV show Entourage will enjoy a final six episodes next year (its eighth season) followed by a feature film to complete the show for good. I’m all for this. Of all the TV shows turned into movies, Entourage makes the most sense.
Variety reports Warner Brothers are moving ahead with a sequel for Green Lantern (yes, already) by hiring writer Michael Goldenberg (Contact, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) to get the screenplay underway. Goldenberg also did a rewrite on Green Lantern, which has just wrapped production and will be released June 2011.
Finally, Deadline reports Fox Searchlight bought a comedy pitch titled Motherf***er, being scripted and directed by Daryl Wein and co-scripted by Zoe Lister Jones. This is news because? Anne Hathaway is already attached to star. Here’s a pic!
